May 2003 Over 30 one and two-day basketry and gourd art workshops will be open for registration in January 2003. Nationally known artists from across the nation will teach contemporary and traditional basketry techniques as well as beginning and advanced gourd art. Monitor this page for descriptions of classes that will be offered. These will be posted in advance of the registration form mailing. Throughout the Gourd and Basket Weekend, demonstrations, garden tours, artists’ exhibits, supply vendor booths and a teachers’ market will be open to Quail Botanical Gardens visitors (non-student entrance fee $5). Students and visitors
will discover displays of a wide variety of historical, traditional and
contemporary basket making and gourd art. Specialized natural fiber tours
will highlight some of the Gardens’ 60 plants, trees, shrubs and grasses
that can be used by the basket maker. click here
