Meeting & Twined Basket Mini-Workshop

  • Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation 1580 Cannon Road Carlsbad, CA (map)

Come and join us at our beautiful meeting location at the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation Discovery Center! We will arrange seating for social distancing and ask that all attendees wear a mask. We look forward to being with you all to discuss plans for the Guild’s future and receive members’ input during the meeting.

In the interests of health and safety, we have suspended potlucks for the foreseeable future. Instead, please bring your own sack lunch. We also encourage attendees to bring their recent basket or gourd projects - either to show your finished piece or to get advice on problem areas.

Polly Giacchina has graciously offered to conduct a mini-workshop following the meeting. She will bring prepared materials and teach us how to make a twined beaucarnea (ponytail palm), multi-fiber small basket. Those who wish to participant are asked to bring scissors and an old small towel. There will be a $5 fee for the mini-workshop.

Concurrent with this meeting, Grace Swanson will be holding a repeat of her coiling on gourd class she taught in August. For details on this special class, click here.

We encourage you to bring to the meeting your entries for the California Gourd Society Southern California competition. You don’t need to be a member of CGS to enter! Debra Zimmerman will be at the meeting to take your entry to the virtual competition taking place on October 17 in Los Angeles. Check the CGS website for entry forms and competition guidelines.
