Last Minute Call for Entries
Encinitas Community Center Exhibit
September 4, 2025 through Date To Be Determined (Est. 3 months)
1140 Oakcrest Park Drive, Encinitas CA 92024

We have done these shows before but never quite this FAST! Due to an artist’s cancellation, we were offered the opportunity to fill the large case at the Encinitas Community Center three weeks before the load-in date of September 4 at 1:00pm.

We do NOT have a Guild meeting before the load-in. To be in the show, you will need to get your artwork to either Carol Lang or Grace Swanson no later than September 3 or meet them at the Community Center no later than 12:45pm, September 4. [Email was sent to members regarding this on 8/14/25.]

Since this is a last-minute request for artwork, Grace thinks that not everyone will get the notice in time or not be able to get their artwork to us in time. So that means those of you who can make it will likely get more pieces than usual into this show. Plan on sending UP TO six pieces and we will fit in what we can. We were not given the load-out date, but typically these shows run 3 months .

What Grace Swanson needs from you by MONDAY, August 25:
(
marketing@baskets-gourds.com)

  • Photo of your artwork (Does NOT have to be a high quality photo. They just need to make sure it is "family viewable")

  • Database for the tags they require IN THIS ORDER:
    - Title
    - Medium
    - Price or Not for Sale (NFS)
    - Artist name
    - Preferred contact (Website, email or phone number)
    - QR code is optional

We will need to submit a couple of photos for the poster and for publicity, so if you have high quality photos of your entries, please send those along to Grace, too.

Coronado Library Exhibit
September 8, 2025 – January 4, 2026

Members encouraged to watch for emails from MWGBG for information that will be needed and deadlines to enter.  We can sell but cannot put the price beside the piece.  We will need to provide them a sales sheet.  NO items may be removed during the time of the exhibit, even if the piece is sold.  It will be in a very small cabinet, so we will probably be limited to one piece per artist with a maximum size.

San Diego Airport – New Terminal 1
Fall 2025 – October 2026

On July 12, an email was sent to members announcing how thrilled we are that MWGBG has been selected to showcase our baskets and gourds at the new San Diego Airport Terminal 1.  The Guild is very grateful to everyone who submitted pieces for the judging process, and Alison Hiers report that the response was overwhelming. Dozens of wonderful baskets and gourd art pieces were submitted for consideration by airport staff. We thank you all for stepping up so quickly and making such a grand effort!

Details about the opening date and announcement of the artists chosen will be posted here when available.
