Guild Member Exhibit
”Nature’s Bounty”
September 4, 2025 - January 7, 2026
Encinitas Community Center

Misti Washington Gourd and Basket Guild presents an art show in the lighted case at the Encinitas Community Center (1140 Oakcrest Park Drive, Encinitas, CA; Hours: 8am-9pm, Monday through Saturday; 12:00pm-5pm Sunday, (760) 943-2260).

“Nature’s Bounty” describes the projects produced by the members of the Misti Washington Gourd and Basket Guild. Almost all of the materials used for their basket and gourd art comes from nature. Willow, redbud, rushes, sedge, grasses, deer grass, yucca and gourds are just a few.

Fourteen members of the Misti Washington Gourd and Basket Guild — Dianna Burke, Alison Hiers, Kiana Jannesari, Sue Kamin, Carol Lang, Vicki Patnode, Judy Robelotto, Grace Swanson, Jennifer Tang-Limon, Misti Washington, Debbie Avery Weaver, Ron Wilson, Willie Ziegler and Debra Zimmerman — have their artwork in the Community Center from September 5, 2025, to January 7, 2026. Some of the 32 artworks displayed are offered for sale and some are not. Contact the artist directly if you wish to purchase one of the pieces.

The exhibit is free and open to the public, and pieces that are available for purchase have a small card next to that piece.  Visitors can view the exhibit during the Encinitas Community Center’s operating hours, which are Monday - Friday, 8 am - 8 pm, Saturday, 8 am - 5 pm, and Sunday 12 pm - 5 pm.

The exhibit is made possible by the City of Encinitas Civic Art Program, encinitasca.gov/VisualArt.

A reception, “Art Night”, will be held at the Community Center on Saturday, October 4 from 6-8 pm. There will be demos by members of MWBGB as well as additional items for sale.

Members of MWGBG represent all levels of interest in basket and gourd making — beginners, professionals, hobbyists and collectors. The members all share a common fascination for handmade vessels and sculptural objects — whether ornamental or utilitarian — and for the natural and manufactured fibers used in their construction.

The Guild meets on the first Sunday of each month at the San Dieguito Heritage Museum at the Heritage Ranch, 450 Quail Gardens Dr, Encinitas (except if noted otherwise on Events Calendar) and offers a variety of events and weaving support to its members at all levels. Guests are welcome.
