Coronado Public Library

The Misti Washington Gourd and Basket Guild presents an art show in the lighted case in the beautiful Coronado Library.

Nineteen members of the Guild — Peggy Blessing, Dianna Burke, Cookie Hanson, Alison Hiers, Nancy Hepp, Sue Kamin, Natalie Kuhlman, Carol Lang, Marsha Orr, Judy Robelotto, Nadine Spier, Grace Swanson, Jennifer Tang-Limon, Misti Washington, Don Weeke, Peggy Wiedeman, Ron Wilson, Wilma Ziegler and Debra Zimmerman — have their artwork in the Coronado Library in the lighted case just to the left as you come into the front door.

The exhibit is free and open to the public. The Coronado Public Library hosts rotating art exhibitions featuring local and regional artists. The Library is located at 640 Orange Avenue in Coronado, California. Library hours are: Sunday 1 to 5 pm, Monday through Thursday 9:30 am to 9 pm, Friday: 9:30 am to 6 pm and Saturday: 10 am to 6 pm. Library phone: 619-522-7390; website: https://coronadolibrary.org/.

The original building was a classical revival library built in 1909 and gifted to the city by John D. Spreckels. A major expansion and renovation was completed in 2005, which restored the classic building and integrated it into a larger, 40,000-square-foot facility.

Members of MWGBG represent all levels of interest in basket and gourd making — beginners, professionals, hobbyists and collectors. The members all share a common fascination for handmade vessels and sculptural objects — whether ornamental or utilitarian — and for the natural and manufactured fibers used in their construction.

The Guild meets on the first Sunday of each month at the San Dieguito Heritage Museum at the Heritage Ranch, 450 Quail Gardens Dr, Encinitas (except if noted otherwise on Events Calendar) and offers a variety of events and weaving support to its members at all levels. Guests are welcome.
