We hope you can join us to celebrate our first in-person 2021 meeting at our new meeting location, the San Dieguito Heritage Museum at Heritage Ranch (450 Quail Gardens Dr. Encinitas, CA, 92024; turn onto Ecke Ranch Rd. to access driveway). We look forward to being with you all to discuss plans for the Guild’s future and receive members’ input during the meeting. We ask that unvaccinated attendees practice social distancing and wear masks. (We will follow any CDC or facility guidelines that are in place at time of meeting.)
Guild members who participated are reminded to bring their 2020 Holiday Gift Exchange item to the meeting. [See newsletter for exchange listing.]
Following the meeting, Willie Ziegler has graciously agreed to lead a mini-workshop to teach us how to make a cedar bark necklace (students must know how to twine). This charming project will also provide techniques that can be incorporated into other basketry creations. Class size is limited to 8 people, so if you are interested, please send an email to register@baskets-gourds.com. There will be a $10 fee for this mini-workshop. Teacher will provide cedar strips (cut to size and ready to use), wire and waxed linen. Tools and supplies to bring: pair of small wire snips or scissors, small packing tool, and small beads (teacher may have limited supply).
We encourage attendees to bring recent basket or gourd projects - either to show your finished piece or to get advice on problem areas.
Potlucks have been suspended until we are sure there will not be any health and safety guidelines in place at the time of meeting. Instead, please bring your own sack lunch.
