We hope you can join us at the San Dieguito Heritage Museum at Heritage Ranch (450 Quail Gardens Dr. Encinitas, CA, 92024; turn onto Ecke Ranch Rd. to access driveway). We look forward to discussing plans for the Guild’s future and receive members’ input during the meeting.
Following the meeting, lunch and show-and-share time, Carol Lang has, once again, offered to share her expertise with us. She will teach a technique she recently learned that may make braiding a whole lot easier for you. The material you create can be used to enhance a variety of basketry and gourd projects. If you have never tried upside braiding, now is your change to learn.
Carol will be bring the book, samples, and materials to braid with. If you have ¼” strips of paper, pillion (backing for sewing), cord or other items you would like to try, please bring them and scissors. The book we will be learning from is Palmetto Braiding and Weaving by Viva K Cook and Julie M Sampley written in 1947.
Note that there is a small fee for this mini-workshop.
We’ll continue with the “bring your own lunch” practice. We ask that unvaccinated attendees practice social distancing and wear masks. (We will follow any CDC or facility guidelines that are in place at time of meeting.)
