Following the meeting, fellow member Susan Roberts will teach a mini workshop on a darling rock nest basket she gave to a fellow member during the December 2016 gift-exchange meeting. In addition to a potluck item, bring a gourd or basket you've created, are working on, or a project you need help with. We also love seeing your found treasures and/or hearing about your adventures and news about baskets and gourds that you'd like to share.
Students who wish to participate in the mini-workshop on creative coiling will start with a small gourd piece with drilled holes, using raffia as the core. This saves time as coiling takes more than a couple of hours. She will show us how to create twists and bends with the materials and create a small shallow basket to display a few stones.
What to bring? Tools: a sharp large-eye needle and scissors; Materials: twine, raffia, jute, strong yarn, small and medium stones.
There is a $5 fee for this workshop, and Susan will have materials for purchase if you don’t have these items available.
We hope you will join us for this fun get together, where we can all revel in the glow of what is hoped to be another wonderful May Weekend in the Garden event.
