Following our regular meeting, potluck and show and share roundtable, a mini-workshop will be held for those who want to learn the basics of loom weaving.
Back by popular demand, Guild member Carol Lang has agreed to reprise the mini-workshop she taught in early 2018. Participants will learn to warp a small cardboard loom. They will then weave with various yarns, jutes, natural materials, cottons, etc., to create a small 2-dimensional art-piece about 5” x 7”, or students can choose to weave a small pouch.
The loom and the warp thread will be provided along with a small assortment of some weaving materials.
Other supplies and tools to bring: your choice of yarns, natural materials, etc., in colors you love; sharp scissors to cut the cardboard and the weaving materials; ruler; and pencil.
Optional items to bring: large tapestry needle and larger piece of cardboard for the loom.
NEW Optional item to bring: small wooden rings, like old crochet hoops. Carol will bring a dermal, drill bits and awls, so the students can drill holes in the rings)
There will be a small fee for those who wish to take the mini-workshop.
