We hope you can join us to kick off our first meeting of the new year at the San Dieguito Heritage Museum at Heritage Ranch (450 Quail Gardens Dr. Encinitas, CA, 92024; turn onto Ecke Ranch Rd. to access driveway). We look forward to being with you all to discuss plans for the Guild’s future and receive members’ input. To encourage as many members as possible to attend this important meeting, a door prize will be awarded to one of the lucky attendees!
In addition to a general meeting, the annual meeting of the members will be held. The agenda includes approval of the 2023 budget, approval of proposed Bylaw revisions (documents for review at top of Members Only webpage), and election of the President and Secretary. Please help YOUR Guild by volunteering for one of these positions for a 2-year term or nominating someone you think would be willing and able to serve (see job descriptions at bottom of page).
Following the meeting, in recognition of Valentine’s Day, Carol Lang will lead a mini-workshop on how to make a plaited heart ornament. This can be made with a variety of materials, such as strips of paper or fabric or flat reed. Cut paper will be provided. White glue will be provided but, if you have instant glue, bring it along to speed up drying process. Bring scissors and either copper mini-clips or mini-clothespins if you have them. This project would make the perfect gift for someone special! There is a $5 fee for the mini-workshop.
In addition, basket patterns from our library collection that have been scanned by Alison Hiers will be available for interested members to take at this meeting. As the scanning of binders full of patterns and pamphlets progresses, more of the original copies will be available to members at future meetings. We plan to eventually make all the files available as PDF’s on the Members Only webpage. The book library itself will be "out of service" for a few months while the space is being prepared to house it.
The following are the job descriptions as posted in the current Bylaws:
The President shall conduct all meetings of the Guild; shall set the agenda for Guild meetings; shall be a signatory on Guild bank accounts.
The Secretary shall attend all meetings. If unable to be present at such meetings, the presiding officer shall appoint a temporary Secretary to act in his or her place. The Secretary shall record all the proceedings of the meetings of the Guild; shall keep a record of all actions that require a vote in writing, by date; shall be responsible for Guild correspondence, including notification of changes to meetings to those members who cannot be contacted electronically.
