Annual Meeting, Potluck & Small Woven Flower

  • San Dieguito Heritage Museum at Heritage Ranch 450 Quail Gardens Drive Encinitas, CA, 92024 (map)

We hope you can join us to at the San Dieguito Heritage Museum at Heritage Ranch (450 Quail Gardens Dr. Encinitas, CA, 92024; turn onto Ecke Ranch Rd. to access driveway). We meet outdoors under a covered patio, so please dress accordingly. We look forward to being with you all to find out what you’ve been up to and discuss and receive feedback on Guild activities.

Remember to renew your membership for 2026! You can download form on the Join Us page. Many thanks to those of you who have already renewed! (Those joining during Basket & Gourd Class Day or after August 30, 2025, have memberships valid through the end of 2026.)

This meeting will be the Annual Meeting of the Members when elections are held for the Vice President and Treasurer and the 2026 budget approved. We have nominees for these positions, but if you have interest in being nominated or have a nominee in mind, please email president@baskets-gourds.com.

There will also be the usual round-table show-and-share with announcements from fellow members, and the Board will share pertinent topics from the earlier Board meeting. We encourage you to bring finished projects and/or your works-in-progress. Also, if you have a problem piece, fellow members can brainstorm ideas that may help you.

We’ll also enjoy visiting with each other during the potluck lunch prior to the mini-workshop. There is electricity for crockpots, but no kitchen facilities.

Following these activities, Sue Kamin will show us how to make a small woven flower. Using Lauhala, an indigenous Hawaiian long-leaf plant, students will create a lovely woven flower. This is a wonderful, supple material and the flower would be a great embellishment to a basket or gourd project. Sue will provide the materials and handouts. Tools to bring: scissors, towel, knife (there will be extras to borrow). There is a $10 fee for the mini-workshop.

Those of you who wish to learn more about Guild business are welcome to join the Board meeting that will take place before the Noon members’ meeting at 11:00 a.m. at the Heritage Museum.

For those who cannot attend the meeting in person, an email with a Zoom option will be sent to current members the week before meeting (not an option for mini-workshop portion of meeting.)
