Members and guests are welcome to at the San Dieguito Heritage Museum at Heritage Ranch (450 Quail Gardens Dr. Encinitas, CA, 92024; turn onto Ecke Ranch Rd. to access driveway).
We look forward to being with you to discuss Guild activities and receive members’ input. We hope to have narrowed down the list of proposed special workshop projects with Margaret Mathewson being planned for Fall 2023 so that we can share photos with you all.
We are pleased to bring back the potluck lunch. Since there are no kitchen facilities, you might want to keep your dish picnic-style. However, there is electricity for your crockpot/hotplate.
If you have entered online into the Orange County Fair competition (deadline was May 26), Debra Zimmerman has offered to deliver your pieces if you bring them to the June Guild meeting. Be sure a copy of your entry form is included in a box with your piece(s).
Following the meeting, show-and-share and potluck lunch, Carol Lang will teach the God’s Eye basketry technique (we won’t be constructing a full basket). This is a feature that appears in Misti Washington’s signature “Grandmother Basket” but can be incorporated in to other styles of baskets. This mini-workshop will also be very helpful to those who will be demonstrating at the San Diego County Fair this year. The materials will be supplied. Bring scissors. Optional items are a needle for yarn and a needle threader, but there will be extras to share if you don’t have these. There is a $5 fee for those wishing to take the workshop.
For those who cannot attend the meeting in person, an email with Zoom option will be sent to current members the week before meeting (not an option for mini-workshop portion of meeting.)
